To keep your home warm, it is important to know when you need furnace repair before it becomes a larger issue. Here are a few things to look for that will indicate that you do indeed need a furnace repair:

  • Low Heat – The most basic indication that you need furnace repair is a furnace that won’t keep your home warm. If your furnace isn’t keeping up, then it’s time to call a furnace repair company to have it looked at.
  • Smells – If you notice a smell coming from your furnace that you’ve never noticed before or that is persistent, you likely need furnace repair.
  • Noises – You will likely be able to hear your furnace initially turn on, but the noise should stop there. Any kind of grinding, squealing, or clunking should be reported to a furnace contractor to be properly addressed.
  • Carbon Monoxide Alarm – Furnaces have carbon monoxide detectors built in to them. If your detector goes off, it is important to immediately turn off your furnace, evacuate the home, and contact a repair company.
